As mentioned in my last blog – I am going to be rolling out some new projects. One of those projects is a life study of sorts. I free flowed with some interview questions, inspired by questions I’ve been asked myself in interviews. These are also questions I feel frame the voice of what information I want to showcase from the individuals I’m blogging about. The protein. All of these individuals, are just that, individual. They are inspired, living their truth and sharing it with the world. Like me. Sometimes everyone feels like it’s an uphill battle, and sometimes feel alone. The fellowship is there that helps light the path for dreams. We can be inspired by real people, heroes in every day life. These same questions are going to be the root of this project, and the participants – the leaves of a beautiful growth. I’m not editing their words either – this is the freedom in the flow of affirming this stuff. I’d love to start this project with Alexis Pellegrino, local musician, dance technician and swagger magician.
*Cover Art (Listen)*
Tell me about yourself in a few sentences.
I consider myself to be an appreciator, curator, and mostly….a creator of art. I don’t like to limit myself to a certain medium or style. I make music one day, paint another day, embellish a jacket in the morning, conduct a dance class at night for young adults, design graphics, design clothes. I am ALWAYS trying to learn and appreciate new things. I am inspired by everything. Currently, I’m working on my solo project, “Lex Rex and the Dragons”.
What is the “why” behind your magic?
I’m not sure I know how to express myself any other way. I think I have an addiction to expressing myself.
Much like many people who express themselves through creative outlets, I had a pretty interesting childhood. I was terrorized in school. I like to skate and surf. As a kid I was ranked in the Eastern Surfing Association. I used to paddle out during the winter months and if you know anything about a full suit….you know having long hair is a pain. So, I chopped my hair off. Short cut, and I was absolutely a “tom boy”. I used to get made fun of for being “gay” and a “dyke”. Then my hair grew out, and I was made fun of for being expressive. I always dressed quirky. I’d paint my pants, paint my shoes, make t-shirts…..I guess I was pretty DIY punk at a young age…but I didn’t even know what that was at that age. I was just being me, really.
How has your past influenced where you are now with your career?
Honestly, my past has both negative and positive influences on my career….but I am a firm believer of believing in the universe. I was very nervous to start making and doing music. It is the only thing safe to me. Gets me the highest. I was nervous to put it out in the atmosphere for some time. It was/is sacred to me and I didn’t want to be put down like I was in school.
In college I used to have night terrors, that I would never actually start making and doing music. So I said “Fuck it” I am going to do this, even if it is a slow process. I started playing the keys and doing some covers. posting them online. I was in a hair metal cover band for some time, then I decided I wasn’t being fulfilled by that. I started posting some covers more covers on Facebook and was getting really into the “scene” in Asbury. I started doing some small acoustic shows and here we are.
Every time I do a show, I do it and “pour some out” for the people who said I was nothing…..Thank you.
What are two major things that you can’t be without on your day to day operations?
Well, in 2016 I would be absolutely lying if I said my phone wasn’t a big deal. I am inspired a lot by photographs online as well as daily things I come across in life. I am always taking pictures with my phone, as well as listening to music. I also really love to stay in contact with my friends and family. They are very supportive of me and I am always showing them love as well.
The other Major thing would be my backpack. I keep my journal in there, my dinosaur figurine Parizzz and my dragon figurine Rex Jr., My polaroid Camera, A plethora of headphones, pens, USB drives, my computer……it’s basically my life kit.
What is something that you learned only after you went for your goal, that you want to share with anyone shooting for theirs?
STAY TRUE TO WHAT YOU WANT, AND DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT FITTING IN OR BEING LAME.
For SOOOO LONG, I tried to fit into the local scene. The rock that the local scene is doing isn’t exactly what fits me best. I grew up listening to Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Pop. That is where my music is focused now. That is me. Always be YOU!
Where is the rush in this passion for you?
The rush isn’t exactly the finished product. It’s the foreplay. It’s the mental vision, the inspiration, the soul, the guts and glitter behind
what I am trying to convey. The finished product is usually never EXACTLY how you envision it….if you are lucky and work with the right people…..it’ll be better. But like I said, it’s about the process. The process is the sexiest part.
What are the pitfalls?
The pitfalls are definitely just life in general…you know…the saying “Life Happens”. Your life happens, my life happens, the people you work with…their life happens. You have to trust the process though. We aren’t Interscope, we aren’t robots…..we are humans trying to make art, while living. Shit happens. In saying that, I am definitely what I call OD and absolutely OCD. I am always trying to make myself and the people around me challenge themselves and let the “babies” we make inspire them.
How do you manifest things into reality?
Didn’t you see the Barbie Jeep I rolled in on? For real, I have one….her name is BJ.
Reality is a big thing for me. I understand every artist has an ego of sorts. I see some people in the scene with some REALLY BIG egos. I don’t ever want to take anything for granted, I don’t want to take people for granted, I don’t want to be a monster and treat people like shit. I believe in being firm…I don’t believe in being a dictator. I work with kids everyday. if you don’t humble yourself, they will humble you….and sometimes even if you humble yourself, they will still humble you. haha
Where are you hoping to head next?
I am currently in the studio, looking to have a single drop for my project “Lex Rex and the Dragons” before November. I am also having an EP in the works as well as some videos happening. Super stoked for that. I am excited to just live in the process.
Currently listening to?
I am absolutely a playlist kind of girl. I’ll rattle off some artists on my current playlist.
Kendrick Lamar, David Bowie, Frank Ocean, M.I.A., Lauryn Hill, Kanye West, Gorillaz, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Rae Sremmurd, The Weeknd.
Some one or a quote that inspires you:
My dad is my biggest inspiration. He is arguably the reason I am a creative. He is a phenomenal Jazz musician. He still hustles teaching children and playing gigs. If i can be half the person my dad is, I’d be the happiest person.
Both of my parents are my best friends. I literally and figuratively wouldn’t be here without their love and support.
What drew you to work with BethKaya?
I love to work with passionate people. Beth is a passionate person. I am always supporting her endeavors and cheering her on via social media. It is so refreshing to see someone who makes quality art, who is also the most positive, supportive, and absolutely energetic person. I am also super inspired by her accomplishments thus far as well as her work ethic and drive. She is building an empire. HOMEGIRL is NOT MESSIN ROUND. #womancrush.
Back in October of 2015 I vended a local punk rock flea market. In the front area I remember meeting these two well dressed young men, with sleek correlating gear on. They were Jose Serrano and Chris Rockwell, partners for the clothing and lifestyle brand, Karma Cartel. I wouldn’t know it till nearly a year later, they would be collaborating with my own brand.
Chris runs a local series of events and coordinates with a lot of local talent in a very unique way. Support, Encouragement and Teamwork seem to be values that engulf the activities that the gentlemen take part in and host.
We found ourselves cosmically meeting to create a new flavor for their incredible brand, a pair of fragrances. These fragrances would embody the moral, spiritual and even swagger of their blooming indie label.
Several smell sessions and thought storms later, a really effortless set of communicating fragrances were born. ” K ” & ” C “
While entirely meant to both be unisex, one employs more of an assertive vigor while the other is softer and vulnerable.
Each is firmly rooted in fine sandalwood and home brewed madagascar vanilla. “K” is twisted with brighter coconut tones and “C” is bound in leather & amber. “K ” is paired with genuine grade AAA peridot and moonstone and whole Jasmine Buds. “C” is met with genuine garnet & coffee moonstone as well as red sandalwood bark. Sandalwood and Jasmine both represented a karmic relationship, as both are deemed in some cultures as holy and sacred natural offerings. Both are made of certified green fragrances and plant concentrates and are nearly completely natural. The outcome of this duo is much like the collaboration itself, my organic vibe meets their urban luxe & street spirit driven aura and the results are in the fragrances. Like all of my hues, each is meant to take you somewhere you longed to be, perhaps once knew, and most certainly wish to go to again and again.
Karma Cartel is launching this line Thursday August 18th! Visit their site, check out their label, and read more about these fragrances as well as snag them for yourselves! It was a pleasure designing for such a lively brand rooted in community and culture.

So naturally this is the time of year to consider that little romantic holiday. Some suggest it was invented by hallmark to sell cards, but there is obviously a lineage and lore associating in so many ways to different countries and cultures, dating back hundreds of year all over the world for St. Valentines Day. I got a little curious and decided to go on a little internet book report style scavenger hunt. Here are some totally serious and maybe a few BS stats I found from sources that range from CNN to random Joe Smith blogger!
The Stats –

-Over 110 Million Roses Will be Sold Over the 3 Days That Valentines Day Falls
-Women Purchase 85% of All Valentines

Vitality Arsenal – Essential Oil Blend By Vetiver Farms Hawaii, Stones by Wingostarr Jewelry , Gem Roll On Perfume & Orgone By BethKaya, Flower Tincture and Balm by Honest Owl Herbal, Bowls By Intralove Art Solid Lotion Tin By Earth Collective
Getting back into the swing of things, the thick of winter – new structure for the shop. Slowly healing, getting myself back – taking it in stride and pulling all of my newest lessons into view.
Keeping loyal friends, and honest – well makers in my own healing & vitality arsenal. Producing now on a farm to table like scale – every few weeks I am writing a menu of sorts – assessing my herbs and flowers / raw materials and designing these ritual bath hues for you and myself really.
I’ve enjoyed partaking in all of this season’s products as they are developed and truthfully need these nourishment tools. There is nothing in a day that you do solely for yourself but your grooming rituals.
Sometimes those rituals can be the difference between “put together” and “falling apart”. A simple shower in the middle of a crisis, after trauma or whatever can sew a person up – make you anew, almost like a sunrise.
I cling to those moments somedays. Feeling so much, being able to lose myself in a silly little ritual of applying eyeliner or blush. It reboots.
Holding sacred space and crushing external and internal expectations has been paramount to the healing and creative process for me as a person. Especially lately – what things do you do to reboot yourself and set aside a sactuary?
Sacred Loose Smudge Blend – For Cleaning Sacred Spaces and Removing Bad Juju
A lot of my work if you haven’t gathered is centered around these sacred space and self ritual functions. My goal is to make them nourishing and enhanced.
Speaking of enhanced, if you are one of my Portland Oregon friends, please check out my Cannabis Flower & Fig Scents found at FARMA a beautiful luxury recreational and medicinal cannabis boutique. Those hues are unisex and a customer and now FARMA PDX favorite!
Feel free to comment before with your thoughts! Approaching 20K subscriber on Instagram – I think that is just silly and wonderful. Thank you so much whoever is out there for the support.

Natural Skincare From The Big Island – Holistic Spotlight
A lot of the partnerships and collaborations I choose to do come from a purely synergistic place. For one reason or the next, people are brought into view for me and we connect. Two of those people just recently happened to be based on the Big Island in Hawaii. Ironically – the timing is incredible because it is the anniversary of when something deep in my core was activated on the Big Island. My husband and I hiked a now too dangerous part of Kalapana with an experienced tour crew. The hike was grueling but we witnessed splendor in geomantic forms. Hawaii has a lot of that – the magic of their special soil and offerings to be had from that earth is very inspiring and cosmic.

I recieved some oils from VETIVER FARMS HAWAII (VFH). What Can I say about the freshness and pure seduction of such incredible earth essences captured so delicately? Plant magic is a delciate art – you have to love this to produce such miracles. Their oils are miracles.
I like to use essential oils on a diffusing bracelet made by my friend Rebbecah at Seed Essentials. She hand carves diffusing ceramic into natural seed like shapes and uses polished mala style gemstones and woods in harmony. I requested this piece to be in all black transformative and grounding stones. It has Jet, Lava, Onyx and Obsidian. Using VFH oils with this bracelet has been a dream for me. Though the oils are diluted in care so you can apply them directly to the body which is nice; I am very sensitive to these types of EO’s so the bracelet is a nice alternative for me vs. skin. Also I’ve used this bracelet to help my little one get the benefits of these oils. He has a cold as we speak and I’ll drop VFH eucalyptus on the bracelet and ask him to smell it, carefully. He enjoys it and it helps to open up passageways!

I love to blend Vetiver Farm’s Eucalyptus with their Vetiver. It’s really high time that people open up to the powers of the olgfactory process (the reactionary system produced from our sense of scent) ! It is the most direct route to our nervous system. Something about Vetiver has called to me a lot lately. It supports sleep for starters, and has a unisex appeal. I personally resonate with deeper, rounder tones vs. sweet scents. It’s also very grounding, calming, sensual and tunes your root chakric system. Eucalyptus is a powerhouse oil and has those invigorating and awakening properties as well. Together, for me, it’s a motivator and anxiety buster. The quality of the Vetiver Farms Hawaii’s products is the actual vigor of the island captured in a bottle. Check out their instagram feed to see how neat the process of growing this plant is! @Vetiver_farms_hawaii
VETIVER FARMS HAWAII – EUCALYPTUS OIL BEING USED IN BK SCRUB
I also had the pleasure of mingling with another beautiful herbalist from the big island as well – Shawn from Honest Owl Herbal Apothecary (OHA). She sent me so many incredible things. She captures the gentle vibration of herbs and flowers in moon drenched waters and butters. Incredible. Absolutely. Every inch of these products has love from the notes to the packaging and preperation. I used her Tulsi and Sandalwood Hair Conditioner tonight and truly was just crying about how much my textured hair wants to dread. It’s crispy and needed the clarifying lift this gentle aromatic product lended. This spray soothed it, softened it and didn’t leave it oily like other products on the market! I’ve taken her flower essences in times of anxiety along with my essential oils from VFH and can delightfully and honestly say – both are aiding me right now.
HONEST OWL APOTHECARY FLOWER ESSENCE AND ORCHID NECKLACE. ECLIPSE NECKLACE BY EMMY EFF DESIGNS
The “innercalm” balm from HOA – is such a dream too. I put it ALL over me tonight after the shower. It feels so emollient like a hug. The scent is calming and warm, there is surely some ancient magic inside of this balm. Incredible. I put some on my feet and then some socks over top and it was like a miracle going on in there. So awesome! Thank you both!

Lots of events, SOUPERGROOVE music festival was a success! We loved our dream team staff, mineral guru Conni from @Autumsunoriginals and our dear friend Shanna – Homesteading Extraordinare in her own right! We had a blast sharing love for crystal energy with the festival goers!
We filled out monthly residency at the Murray Grove Renewal and Retreat Center in loving company as well. The Random Test Reggae Band played their Sunday Cafe house and were so full of energy and incredible spirit. Everyone danced and my four year old walked right up and highfived them and told them they “made his heart happy”! You HAVE to come to these cafe houses! Check Murray Grove out on facebook for their flier. I also have been moonlighting with their marketing team and word on the street is we might do a bingo night when the chill gets a little thicker!
Also just finished up Open Minded Smoke and Specialty in Toms River ‘s 4th anual customer appreciation day. I have had the pleasure of evolving and vending this event each year – I left in tears literally overwhelmed by the growth and beauty of the day. Jennifer, Fran and Melissa over there are incredible people and they make that spot a hub for love and kindness in this community. If you are on the Jersey Shore, it’s an attraction you must visit. Tons of loving things in there to intruige and nourish the spirit.
What’s on tap for October?

“Morning found us calmly unaware Noon burn gold into our hair At night, we swim the laughin’ sea When summer’s gone Where will we be Where will we be Where will we be”
– Summer’s Almost Gone
Summer is always very transformational. I spend the winter designing away, and the summer traveling, gardening, harvesting and planting universal starseeds for the winter. Doors slammed shut, gaping cosmic holes blew wide open. As an emotional journey, it’s been a whirlwind. Death of loved ones, and old ideas vs birth of loved ones and new ideas and learning to flow within the body of time’s journey and my work’s evolution.
Here is a preview of my collection rolling into fall.
September is around the bend, my baby sister leaves for med school and my baby boy gears for PreK. I burned bridges and started to mend others. One of my favorite photographers, Rommy Coleman has been by my side for years to help me document important things – this past weekend she took a stab at documenting my work, where usually she’s recording an event in my life.
Guayusa Tea, Chamomile, Calendula, Lavender & Himalayan Salt Bath Bombs With Patchouli & Lavender Essential Oils
Signature Orgone Style Talismans Utilyzing Recucyled Metals, Flowers, & Gems in Trans-mutational Harmony with Mark’s Hops and Lavender
There’s something special about my friends back home in Maryland. They just have cosmic gifts and I am so blessed to be influenced by them and that arise in my work. One of my very favorite couples, The Thomas’ are share farmers on a beautiful farm in Mount Airy Maryland, England Acres Farm. It’s a gorgeous piece of earth and I highly recommend visiting the market for incredible seasonal offerings. Mark Thomas blessed me with some of his precious hops to incorporate into some of my products as well as fresh lavender. It smells different from the lavender we grow at home, it’s a little spicier. It’s very exciting to have my hands on this stuff and by kismet love Rommy got her hands on them first to take some incredible product shots.
Swirl, Standard, White Cap and Limited Square Gem and Botanical Vial Fragrances, My Faithful Grace Best Selling Travel Perfume Spray and Signature Orgone Crystal Pendulum Necklace with Mark’s Lavender

I could spend all day in this vibe – at this farm and working with this amazing photographer. I will have to highlight the photos she did of my wedding and my maternity at another time!
Why not throw one of my favorite jewels in there from another favorite goddess Mallory Wingo?
