Getting back into the swing of things, the thick of winter – new structure for the shop. Slowly healing, getting myself back – taking it in stride and pulling all of my newest lessons into view.

Keeping loyal friends, and honest – well makers in my own healing & vitality arsenal. Producing now on a farm to table like scale – every few weeks I am writing a menu of sorts – assessing my herbs and flowers / raw materials and designing these ritual bath hues for you and myself really.

I’ve enjoyed partaking in all of this season’s products as they are developed and truthfully need these nourishment tools. There is nothing in a day that you do solely for yourself but your grooming rituals.

Sometimes those rituals can be the difference between “put together” and “falling apart”. A simple shower in the middle of a crisis, after trauma or whatever can sew a person up – make you anew, almost like a sunrise.

I cling to those moments somedays. Feeling so much, being able to lose myself in a silly little ritual of applying eyeliner or blush. It reboots.

Holding sacred space and crushing external and internal expectations has been paramount to the healing and creative process for me as a person. Especially lately – what things do you do to reboot yourself and set aside a sactuary?

A lot of my work if you haven’t gathered is centered around these sacred space and self ritual functions. My goal is to make them nourishing and enhanced.

Time Rolls On and Healing

"Bloom For Your Conditions, Always"

“Bloom For Your Conditions, Always”

Happy 2016! I am wholly not sure if anyone reads my blog. I chase the digital streets in a lot of corners so who knows where I shed traction or not. Surely the last year has been explosive for my @BethKaya instagram account but I ALSO notice funny things happening with it because of that. I won’t go there but it’s also been a source of new growth.

So I had a gnarly surgery to remove a large mass that grew in my breast and side recently. It is NOT cancer – but it was a 3″ edenoma/fibrocystic/calcium mass that doesn’t exactly scream out “I’m Healthy!” and caused me a lot of infections and discomfort in my muscles and ducts. So it came out and I am recovering OK. It’s been a process I will not lie. My dominant arm was affected by the surgery and that wasn’t exactly anticipated. I’ve had to look at some parts of myself internally and externally and confront those things. The business has been a huge experiment and test as a person, artist, mother, wife and friend. It’s also been a test of balance, of my love for YOU and what I do with intention. It means so much to me, it’s my sacred path. Not everyone gets it, not everyone got it last year – and I experienced losses soley do to misalignment in life path / structure with others and that is OK. We are not all aligned at once, or in the same sequence at the same time. I do believe that our relationships and insights change as we experience life and we are constantly evaluating the worth of things we do and the reward/benefit to doing them.

This is all very leveling. I know that as I stare down a road to healing it won’t be overnight. Also – moving ahead I must be even more critical of what goes in my body, just as I am about what goes on it. Everything is sobering and only ads to my resolve. So the shop is closed for a few more days. When I reopen it will flow a little differently. Inventory will be real time and customs will not be offered at the moment. I have a LOT of stock that I made, especially leading up to the procedure. Maybe I had an intuitive hunch after all on my arm but that is where I will lie when I reopen. Premade! I hope you all had a great new year. Setting intentions – healthy healthy is all I can think about right now! Follow along on facebook if you wish – join in the conversation and participation. Lifestyle is everything to vitality! This forum is about sharing, accountability and most of all living well.

Harmony Project – Spirit Recess & BethKaya Update for January 2016

2015 has been incredible – in a lot of facets. I think about where I was a year ago and who I was. Maybe I was kinder but also very vulnerable. That vulnerability both built and burnt me. Letting people into my work helped to push this medium and message into light while also allowing challengers into my path. This was a year of cutting through emotional vines, social vampires and committing to my job as I create it here before you. My journey through healing powers the art that I create and with that offers something to you, somewhere. I have been practicing with crystal grids for years. It started as simply collecting crystals, cleansing them and arranging them. Now this has developed into a healing medium for me in several ways. Arranging these things immediately calms and soothes the soul. Working through patterns whether you are drawing or arranging helps the mind process subconscious things floating in our auric spaces. This can be a form of channeling or meditation for many and it takes no skill level to begin. Sacred Geometry is a heavy element to my work because I believe once you understand how these shapes apply to life and spirit – a lot begins to unfold spiritually and make sense. It’s a path like any band you adore. You buy the first CD and are hooked, you move through the body of work because of your appreciation for where the medium brings you. Sacred Geometry is a lot like that. Dig for yourself, so much unfolds – it’s a personal journey!

I created a series of manifestation / mantra cards. Presently you can only get them inside of orders from my etsy shop, for a limited time beginning in 2016 when I reopen. These cards are personally made grids, with their intention on the other side. Eventually they will be  deck if you collect them all.

Harmony Card 1

Harmony Grid 1 – Flower of Life

“I am equipped, protected and loved. Everything I need is inside of me and is my choice to harness.”

I also mentioned the etsy shop being closed. Yes, I had to close my etsy shop for a little while. Also for the first time in 2 years I couldn’t offer a Saturday auction on instagram. I’ve hinted at some things being out of balance with my health. It’s a huge part of where my business has headed under the butterfly wellness project. In a few days I am having surgery to remove a mystery mass in my breast. I’ve been suffering from recurring infections and hormonal issues/symptoms as a result of this mass and others. It will be removed, tested and I’m sure be just a blip on my radar of life but I need to take a break and heal.

I will keep you posted on how things go – I’ve tried push through the last year of issues but I truthfully am tired and need the energy and positive thinking more then ever. Thank you again for your support and love – happy new year, cheers to health.

Thank you all for supporting my journey and the business this holiday season. I sincerely appreciate it and hope to be back in full action come mid January with more surprises and I can begin to put these harmony cards into packages. I created a line of merchandise with these grids as well with the help of REDBUBBLE. This will help me continue to offer you some of my projects in the mean time with their team on top of these orders. Their quality is amazing – my friend Mallory from Wingostarr jewelry offers her meditations on redbubble too and I really enjoy the quality of these products. Happy New Year, I will keep you posted and sharing that goodness. XO

Love, Beth

Standing Up for Your Weird

Do you ever feel like you are tired of having to explain yourself or stand up for your emotions? Do you find yourself in social situations just feeling out of place, like no one could possibly understand how your mind works ? Have you ever had to defend what you’re doing in your line of work or your passions?

You are not and have never been alone. At some point there has to be a moment where you accept your light and don’t feel the need to explain it to anyone who isn’t open to receiving it. That is a gift we have to give ourselves. All you have inside of your special projection is exactly that, a special and unique projection. It’s not meant to mirror or be like anyone elses, despite how comfortable that feels for you and for others.

Why am I writing about this? Well for one, I am going to write more. As my social networks grow I notice each platform attempting to cash in on that success by forcing me to promote my content. I view that as a form of corporate bullying so I’ve vowed to try to just sprinkle my magic wherever it’s going to be received openly and if writing what’s in my heart is that I’m going to do that.

Someone came to me recently upset about being bullied in their life. I had these flash backs of being a small child in our old townhouse neighborhood. Sitting on the bathroom floor while my father dug gum and suckers out of my hair with ice and peanut butter. Truthfully I was teased endlessly by neighborhood children. They called me “goofy” and it was the hood nickname for me whenever I walked by. “Oh here comes goofy!” Then began the small tortures. I never really complained, I just accepted it and came sulking in with shit in my hair from these rude little rapscallions. Sitting there on that bathroom floor my dad would quip me out on all of the things I was supposed to say to come back to these kids. There was one line that he would remind me of through adult hood when coworkers would get to me, or even family.

“I’m very sorry, but you must have mistaken me for someone who has to put up with your crap.”

#BillHicks ? Truth so True It Hurts #idol #awakening ?

I smile now when I think of it, I don’t often repeat it but it’s a mantra for sure. It might not be sweetest sounding of phrases but when you remind yourself that whoever is projecting awfulness onto you, just for being yourself is coming from a place of misunderstanding and really misalignment. You can refresh yourself knowing that you are not obligated to agree or engage. You’re not obligated to explain or anything either. I never fought those kids back, and actually was relieved when we moved away but that obviously has it’s own host of challenges. That’s not to say I haven’t fought back in my life, or am saying you never should. I am saying however, that at a certain point the need to engage becomes less and less.

The whole universe is inside of you. #seedoflife #crystalinfused

We make an agreement to allow ourselves to be pushed around even from a young age. We are so open to receiving and pleasing sometimes that it makes us targets – additionally sometimes we are so closed that we are targeting without knowing it. I don’t blame those kids, I know they had a lot of pain too.

I was weird, I was different. I had trouble communicating from some hearing issues I had and have always been highly sensitive. That means I am interested in a lot of things that others are missing and bringing those things to the surface all the time. It seems strange and out of place, often. In my adult life this “weird” outsider cloak remains. I have done my best in my life to embrace this and show others joy from this place of mine. That feels like a duty to me to communicate through this lens I’ve been given. The beautiful part about this is that anyone can do this and has the lens too.

The next time you feel like being different is the wrong thing because someone has something to say about your path, remember the words of my father digging candy from my locks – You are NOT obligated to put up with the negativity of others about your journey. Simply find your graces, and exit. Make the agreement that you are more important to yourself. It’s OK. Yes, it is!

All the love and ass kicking –

Singed Summer – Musical Love For Solstice Air By BethKaya

Rose Quartz Point Wand From Brazil and Chive Flowers 💎🌿💐

Queue Olaf singing ” In suuuuummmmmeerrrr!”
You should know who Olaf is by now and if you don’t you cannot be helped!

Anywho Tis the season for the garden, the beach, later nights and slower mornings. Bare with me as I take a few more hours to respond to messages and also an extra day or two on order shipments. I try to enjoy the time with my little one and husband when we can. Life is so short. I’ve learned this one a few times over recently with the passing of two friends from back home.

Both of them had serious demons, addiction, depression… I mean we all have demons. Can’t we talk about that for a moment? We ALL have them.
We aren’t so different from one another. There are a LOT of healing modalities. I am a big proponent for alternative channels of healing, clearly.

You don’t have to be this guru with anything to do this either. A mandala coloring books is a great start but you know what really helps me almost all the time? Music.

So in honor Of Steve and KC – here is 11 Hours of Music – “SINGED SUMMER”

As compiled by me, BethKaya. See you in space kids. XOBK

How Can I Help Nepal NOW?

A while back, I approached a long time former tape trading pal about writing for the blog to bring an air of adventure to my page for my readers. My friend Kevin is a scientist and lives in Alaska last I checked but his work has him traveling to all sorts of places you might not dare to. I wanted to share that with you. He agreed to do so – but as life gets in between everything you want to do for leisure, other things pop up. Here a few years later – I’ve received an email from him after lightly learning about his new relief endeavors abroad. I wish to share some insights to his work and projects that involve rebuilding sustainable infrastructures in these damaged parts of our world. Here are his words and if you would – follow these links he’s embedded for you. They will tell you more stories about individuals and campaigns at the SOURCE. My customers know this is vital to my business but also assuring that money, hard earned money – goes where it should when it comes to charitable giving. Our relief efforts here on the Jersey Shore with the GO HOME SANDY operation moved a few small mountains. The power of networking helps people all over the world rebuild their lives. We hope to continue to highlight Kevin’s efforts, peers and adventures as we ask that our supporters, support them too! Please read his email to me and visit the links underlined. Share and support! Almost as good as earthing - @handmaderopesandals played in the garden this evening for a bit getting the mounds all ready for seedlings! Don't forget about the big loop contest a few photos back and my regular Saturday Auction tomorrow at 11 or so. What are you growing this season?!
“Well, I am not a writer, but I have a story for you to tell if you were so inclined.  I know I told you about the Moringa. {A sustainable plant we spoke about for cosmetics}   But how much detail did I give you about our nonprofit organization?  So, obviously from my FB posts I am raising money for Nepal and Haiti.  Let me tell you exactly what we are doing.  A buddy, Jonathan Noggle, and I started up a nonprofit organization called
We had an initial response to Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu.  That lead us to revisiting a concept that Noggle had for Haiti back in 2010.  We made a few phone calls, that lead to an impromptu visit to Haiti, all of which culminated in a partnership with the University of Notre Dame’s E2E Haiti Program.  There we are providing a much need training role for Construction Quality Assurance alongside E2E as they put together their redevelopment plan. We plan to have a Graduate Level Intern on the ground in Leogane Haiti for several months this summer.  More recently we were contacted by a group of Nepalese Diaspora made up of Engineers, IT Professionals, a CFO of a Construction Company and others, all with obvious local connections within Nepal in the same fields including government level officials.  They have asked us to put together a team to address the reconstruction issues they will face.  The destruction is widespread and help is needed everywhere, but the particular group of people we have fallen in with are connected to a place called the Tsum Valley.  This is a remote Himal valley with an indigenous population of about 4000 Tsumba people.  Two of the members of our team are from a village called Ripchet.
Here is Ripchet prior to the quake:

This picture was taken several minutes after the quake:

Team members Rinzin Lama, Head of the Tsum Society Youth Club, and Sonam Lama, A professor in Kathmandu with a special degree in Emergency Architecture from Germany, both left yesterday for the long journey to their village for assessment and preparations due to the approaching Monsoon Season.  They both have crowd sourcing campaigns.
The village of Ripchet is a day drive west of Kathmandu followed by five days of trekking/hiking when the trail was good.  The earthquake heavily damaged portions of the trail, hindering current relief efforts.
Inline image

There was an American Woman, Sandy Kyin, on a 3-week trek through the valley when the quake hit.  She happened to be in Ripchet.  Take some time to read her story.  She also has a GoFundMe campaign – Sandy Kyin
Under her her Update #2 to her campaign you see Good News #1 she discusses a group of professionsal.  WEare that group of professionals she is talking about and she also links to the other two groups I linked above.  We have been in communication with her since that update about needs and coordination.  Actually we had a skype call planned with her early this morning, but this most recent “aftershock” caused disruption of some communications so we postponed the call. We have talked to all of our other team members in Nepal and they are safe. In any event, that is where we are now.
What do you think?  Can you make this into a blog?  I am not a writer or a sales person or a very good self-promoter.  I need help getting this story out!!!  How can I get this story out so we can raise the money to help Tsum?  We need money to mobilize VSI and have an
IndieGoGo campaign   for that purpose on our main website.  I am planning to go to Nepal in the next few weeks regardless and this is out of pocket, so please
We have a long term 5-10 year plan to begin to train and import innovative techniques during the reconstruction.  Our time in Haiti has taught us the need for a long term, Sustainable, Local, Scalable model that can be passed on through education in order to prevent recurrence of these disasters.  As a start-up nonprofit we have zero funds other than personal and our 501c3 is pending.  We also need money for the three other groups we are currently working with on this project.  It will certainly be a team effort and as we get organized our missions will begin resource sharing on the ground in a part of the world that started with limited resources.  Let me know if you think you can help get our story out to people that can help us.

Being Kind in Hollywood

Anyone that knows me is aware I’m a huge fan of the show “How I Met Your Mother”.   It was hard to find a sitcom that was realistic in portraying life after college, the search for love and finding ones ‘self’ for early twenty-something’s. Carter Bays and Craig Thomas manage to create a show that did just that and with this clever sitcom taking their final bow after 9 years on Monday March 31 I thought it would be nice to reprint an article written in 2008 by Josh Radnor who plays ‘Ted Mosby’, the lead character. Rarely do we see acts of kindness in the entertainment industry especially ones that have no financial benefit or gain to the actor. This is a great piece about being kind in show business and how far it can take you in your career but also in life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when it was first published in the LA times a few years back.

Kind Over Matter

Basic goodness means little in Hollywood….and everything in life

(Original article from LA Times)

only one rule that I know of, babies—God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.
—Kurt Vonnegut,
God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater

Here’s a theory I’ve been kicking around for a few years: Success in Hollywood—being incredibly well paid to do something very few people get the chance to do—won’t make you happier, but it should make you kinder. It never made sense to me that someone would achieve any kind of success in show business, only to become a jerk.

It certainly seems like the unkind—craven, wildly ambitious, stab-you-in-the-back types—are rewarded time and again. But bad behavior generally ensures a short shelf life. The question is really, What kind of person do you want to be once you’ve “gotten” somewhere?

When I left NYU in 1999, the year I turned “pro,” I was on the lookout for examples of what kind of professional actor I wanted to be. Before long, I had the great fortune to work with Judith Light, who, in addition to being wildly talented, seemed to place a premium on kindness. I remember how she greeted everyone with a smile—no matter who they were. She listened as if the fate of the planet depended on hearing someone’s every word.

Maybe it has something to do with my being from the Midwest, but witnessing actors like Judith—and the decidedly less enlightened behavior of others—confirmed my suspicion that it was possible to be both a good person and successful in show business. I realized Vonnegut’s dictum was basically the only Hollywood rule worth following: You’ve got to be kind.

Kind to your fellow actors, to the producers and their spouses, to their assistants and their interns. You’ve got to be kind to the agents and managers (even if you often can’t tell the difference between the two), to the director and the people in wardrobe and props, to the photographer and the valet and the guy working checkout at Whole Foods, to the reporter at the press tour who thrusts a tape recorder in your face and says, “What song makes you want to get up out of your chair and dance?” And you must—and this is much tougher than it sounds in an industry that almost dares you to go insane—extend that kindness to yourself.

It really shocks me when I encounter people who think kindness doesn’t matter. Because I think it’s pretty much the only thing that matters. This should not be mistaken as a call for humorlessness or some naive, fussy moralizing on my part. It’s not about being “good” (a loaded concept, to say the least) or “nice,” which is really just a social convention that often has to do with worrying about being liked (occasionally masking real deviousness). It’s ultimately about compassion, recognizing that all of us are going through it all in our own particular way, no matter our social status.

It’s not our job to play judge and jury, to determine who is worthy of our kindness and who is not. We just need to be kind, unconditionally and without ulterior motive, even—or rather, especially—when we’d prefer not to be. For me, it’s simple and not entirely unselfish: When I’m kind, I feel good; when I’m not, I feel horrible. (Of course, the publication of this piece now ensures I will be caught on tape being a total schmuck.)

When my show How I Met Your Mother first went on the air, some people were quietly concerned the job would “change” me, as Hollywood lore is littered with tales of the monsters fame has created. Being a jerk was never all that interesting to me before I was on a television show. Now four years later, I’m happy to report no one has told me I’ve become one (to my face, at least).

Where will any of this get you in Hollywood? Maybe nowhere. That’s not really the point. Kindness is not about instant gratification. More often, it’s akin to a low-risk investment that appreciates steadily over time. One thing I’ve found to be true in show business, as well as everywhere else: Whatever you put out there comes back to you in some form eventually. Hopefully, one day you look around and say, “Hey, I’ve got a pretty nice life full of fantastic people.” If you have a better definition of success, I’d like to hear it.

This is bigger than Hollywood anyway. (Warning: If you think this is all a bunch of touchy-feely nonsense from someone who has clearly spent too much time in California, you might want to stop reading now and flip to the crossword.) I believe our thoughts and words are powerful far beyond what we suspect, that they carry some sort of mysterious heft that ripples outward, like the tiny flap of the butterfly wings causing a hurricane. Our planet is being despoiled in a myriad of provable ways, but might our unkind words be contributing on some level?

Consider it: What if we began to view unkindness as air pollution of the most toxic variety? Would we think twice before sending ozone-depleting nastiness from our lips into the atmosphere?

If you believe, as I do, that the state of the world is inextricably linked to our minds, that the external is a reflection of the internal, our minds are not in great shape. Every act of kindness, then, is not merely a sign of personal virtue. It’s saving the planet—the ultimate fusion of environmentalism, spirituality, compassion and common sense.

Of course, this is just a theory. In a more practical, less metaphysical sense, if you’re kind in Hollywood, people will want to work with you again. And if some unkindness is unavoidable, well, that’s why we have agents (or managers).
